500 Years of Distilling Heritage

Coming from the oldest distillery in Europe, Old Hunter’s is made using the traditional recipe, way back in 1518, of Green Tree Distillery founder Jakub Vojacek

A 500-year distilling dynasty

  • Old Hunter’s Selection honors a 500 year commitment to quality. Our tradition began in 1518. when High Marshall of Bohemia, Vilem of Pernštejn, granted the right to brew spirits to 31 land owners, among them, Green Tree Distillery.
  • Another milestone in Old Hunter‘s history was the innovative approach of pioneer distiller Jakub Vojacek who brought his ground breaking distilling method to Bohemia and his Rye Whisky formula spread like wildfire throughout the country. Today, his recipe, principles and traditional distillation process remain unchanged.

A Grown-Up Rye

  • By law, whisky must be aged at least 3 years in Czechia and Canada. Old Hunter’s Selection provides the finest selection aged for 7 years, bringing 5 centuries old distilling tradition to our modern consumers.
  • Every bottle is handpicked from the highest quality rye distillate from only the finest barrels, producing a complex yet exceptionally delicate taste sophisticated flavor and shining golden color.

Sophistication takes time and gentle care

  • Old Hunter’s is aged patiently. During its first 4 years of aging, our whisky develops a soft, fruity flavor with hint of spiciness synonymous with rye.
  • However, only the finest batches have the honor of selection by Master Distiller Roman Petruš to mature for their final 3 years.
  • Breathing in American Oak barrels, the whisky develops its signature complexity, with plentiful notes of citrus, sherbet with a hint of vanilla.
  • After 7 years deep in the cellar underneath the historic Green Tree Distillery, Old Hunter’s Selection matures into an exceptionally smooth whisky its forefathers would proudly toast to. Celebrate tradition.

That’s why don’t expect any unequivocal rule on how to serve Old Hunter’s Rye. We just want you to enjoy it exactly the way you like it.

For inspiration, we present several ways you can serve Old Hunter’s Rye, along with a description of how the given method will affect its tone.




Classic

Exclusively Old Hunter's Rye

The easiest way is to serve Old Hunter’s Rye undiluted, warmed to room temperature. In this way of serving, all its aromas are best developed.




Soft

Old Hunter's Rye with some pure water

Another way of consumption is to gently dilute Old Hunter’s Rye with a little clean, pure water. Thanks to this, the taste of the drink and its quality will be more pronounce.




With Ice

With ice, like a true gentleman?

Opinions differ quite a bit about drinking Old Hunter’s Rye with ice, as well as different opinions on ice and whisky in general exist. Some claim that ice dulls the taste of the drink, while others claim that ice supports the variety of taste notes. For example, America is famous for adding ice. Old Hunter's Rye and cocktails

Czech Garden

Ingredients

  • 4oz Old Hunter's Rye Selection
  • 2 tablespoons apricot jam
  • 1oz fresh lemon juice
  • Technique: swizzling
  • Garnish: dried apricot, straw
  • Drinkware: Can/Julep Cup
  • Ice: Crushed

Drink Preparation

Pour the ingredients into the prepared Julep cup, cover with crushed ice, and mix thoroughly using the swizzle method. After that, shake the drink lightly and garnish with a dried apricot.




Ginger Ranger

Ingredients

  • 4oz Old Hunter's Rye Selection
  • 1/8 of a lime
  • Top off with Ginger Beer/Ginger Lemonade
  • Technique: swizzling
  • Garnish: lime, a slice of ginger
  • Drinkware: long
  • Ice: Cubes

Drink Preparation

Pour the Old Hunter’s Rye Reserve into the prepared glass, fill it with ice and top it off, to the brim, with ginger beer. Squeeze and throw in 1/8 of the lime and you’re done.
